Resolving Conflict

by Mark Henderson © 2016

In this contentious age in which we live
everyone has an opinion: something to give.
And without a thought we blurt it out.
As to its certainty? We have no doubt.
For we are sure we haven't been deceived.
For we've regurgitated everything we believe.
And are consumed with all the latest trends
of celebrities and 'stars' and all they pretend
and up-to-date on our social media
reposting its memes from the meme encyclopedia.
And so with great confidence in all our belief
our lives but a shambles with little to no relief.
And so why are we mystified by the conflict we face?
For of humility and integrity there isn't a trace.
For these are the things that are lacking today
from a world gone ape and from truth does stray.
For there is a true and it can not be denied
no matter the science or engineering applied.
For it certainly exists beyond man's arrogant boasts
known through the ages by its heavenly hosts
who at our futility do constantly look down
waiting and watching for in us to be found
the power of faith which in us does rest
from the day first created when we were blessed.
But of our fall? They witnessed it all.
The lies of the serpent and his very own call
and the resulting death that now plagues the ages
from Adam and Eve, to babes and sages?
This they have viewed from heaven above
and man's constant conflict and death thereof.
But of this drama why would they search?
And of man's hardship why would they perch?
For they do know the mystery of God's plan
and of a Savior who would take a stand
and bring to an end death and its lies
and to the serpent and all his spies.
And of this climax they are keenly aware.
And of its denouement and how we will fare.
And if we too will search through our files
of our inner most being and all of our trials,
We will find the truth that they see from above::
of a Heavenly Father and His majestic love,
of a consummate Savior and his redemptive death,
and an end to our conflict in its bottomless depth.
