started fading from the rain, they got withered and tainted
The blossom and bloom turned to a dismal kind of gloom
and drove a wedge of sweet deceit between the bride and the groom
and now I miss you...but you won't be coming back to me
You said it's better in that letter that we end our misery
I still have that letter you know, in a private, hidden place
and every time I read it I can always see your face
Sometimes you're smiling at me, with that look of happy surprise
but most of the time you're crying and you have hurt in your eyes
That haunting letter...I read it again and again
and the things that you wrote down I didn't know back then
I just thought things were slipping and we were growing apart
and that we'd both be much better with a brand new start
You said you felt the same, but in the letter you said you lied
and you told me that you loved me but you couldn't fight your pride
Deep inside myself, I felt the very same way
and I don't know why "I'm sorry" was impossible to say
I should have told you that I loved you and I didn't want to be apart
and the thought of not having you was breaking my heart
In your letter you said you wanted it to be you and me
but if I didn't want you, too, then you wanted to be free
You left so suddenly, and you were gone too soon
and last night I read your letter by the light of the moon
and "letter" sounds better than suicide note
and I'm sorry that I caused all the pain that you wrote
