Whose Golden Girl Are You?

by Patricia Joan Polhans

Whose golden girl are you
When times start getting bad
When the fire gets turned up
In the furnace by your "Dad."

Can you endure the flames?
Come forth as pure gold?
And when afflictions come
Will you stand up and be bold?

Can you thank the precious Lord
Through ev'ry fiery trial?
Or do you sit and pine away
Each and every mile?

When the fire gets too hot
Do you crumble and 'gin to fall
Or do you get on your knees
And answer your Father's call?

When the boulders and the rocks
Seem to block your beaten path
Do you kick them from the way
And continue on with a laugh?

When all seems dark and hopeless
And your mercies are all gone
Do tears run down your face
Or do you sing to him love songs?

When you're put through the fire
Will you come forth as pure gold?
When the refining is finished
Can you stand up and be bold!

No longer can you be weak
Just fall upon your knees
For stronger you'll become
If you're aiming is to please.

Then he'll ask the questions
From the fiery flames.
Whose golden girl are you?
Are you my desired flame?

When you're put through the fiery furnace
will you come forth as pure gold?
*Whose Golden Girl are you?*
