Hand of God

by Patricia Joan Polhans

No one saw the hand that
Reached out to capture me
In that moment of darkness
When I slipped into eternity.

But an angel stood before me,
His face shining, all aglow
And he never left my side
No, I was never alone.

The angels came for me
As light shone upon my bed.
Softly they did lead me
To A place where I could rest.

I beheld the 'Light of Glory'
Looked upon his precious face
And as I stood there helpless
He touched me by his grace.

His gentle hand pressed
Against my tear-stained cheek
As he began to sing to me
A song bringing sweet relief.

Now I am with the angels
Singing before God's throne
For today they escorted me
To the Heavenly Father's home.

It was all I could have imagined,
All I could have ever dreamed
The sweet haven of rest that
God had prepared for me.

Here is where I will remain
Through all of eternity.
The hand of God shall lead me.
Death shall not have a sting!
