In His Hand

by Patricia Joan Polhans

In God's hand was placed a tear
Held near his heart each day.
Then I, in wonder and in awe
Saw heaven's handiwork displayed.

In his hand he held the tear
Quite emotional he seemed
Each day viewing the reasons
The reasons for this low esteem.

In his hand he soothed the tear
Sorrow had become his lot
A place for broken souls to come
For strength when there was not.

In his hand he cried a tear
Felt compassion and no shame
For he too once had cried
As emotions upon him came.

In his hand he held the tear
The mark of his high call
Comforting, yes, he is
Tears comforted one and all.
