Imagine the Christmas Jubilee!

by Patricia Joan Polhans

Imagine Mary! As the angel,
Gabriel, blew his horn
Announcing to the virgin,
Immanuel would soon be born.

Imagine her exuberance as
He came forth as pure gold,
A little newborn baby, formed
From God's own special mold.

Imagine angels in heaven
As they viewed this great wonder
From the little Jewish woman
Who was betrothed to another.

Imagine all the angels singing
Lullabies to the king
As she rocked the baby in her arms
'Til he was sleeping.

Imagine the little Jewish girl,
With eyes innocent, could see
That this little baby boy
Would soon mark all of history.

Born in a lowly little stable,
An animals feeding troft
But would soon change the world
Speaking to sinners aloft.

Imagine how all of heaven had
Marked this eventful day
When all of his creation
Would kneel to him and pray.

Imagine birds in the fields
As they 'gan to clap their hands
The day all nature took notice
Of this one special man.

Rocks crying out to praise him,
Trees given a new voice
As they all bowed their knees
When all of nature rejoiced.

"Glory to God in the highest,
Peace on earth, goodwill to men"
Came the sounds from heaven
As he was ushered in.

Imagine trees arrayed with glory,
From the marvelous new light
As all nature beheld him on
That special Christmas night.

I can, only yet, imagine
That glorious new eve
The day that nature took part
In heaven's jubilee.
