The Cathedral

by Patricia Joan Polhans

We are the Cathedral
Temple of the living God
A place where his spirit dwells
And angels doth applaud.

The windows are always opened,
The doors are never closed
And within its many chambers
Music seems to echo.

The words speak to many,
Familiar songs are sung.
For the cathedral is in my heart
Where he builds his kingdom.

The windows I've left open,
The doors I've flung wide
As the Savior enters through the gate
To the city that's inside.

Within you'll find God's kingdom
Where he sits upon his throne,
Ruler of the ages
He has made my heart his home.

From within his cathedral
He rules from his throne
For within my heart
Is where he has made his home.
