Between Yesterday and Tomorrow

by Robert Hedrick

Tomorrow belongs to the future and yesterday to the past,
There's just today and it will be disappearing rather fast.
Moving forward to join those others that passed this way,
If tomorrow comes, likely it's for a twenty four hour stay.

As I consider those many yesterdays that have sped by me,
If they could come by again, would I live them differently.
Have the years taught how to be more appreciative of these,
Becoming wiser, when learning God's The One to please.

Often we'll put off til tomorrow what we should do today,
Sometimes they are still undone by the time it slips away.
Now tomorrow's not the time for today's work to be done,
It will bring it's own problems with their battles to be won.

If tomorrow comes, then another yesterday is in the book,
No doubt there was good in it if we take time to look.
For the Christian, tomorrow's been secured by God's Son,
Some day then, it's on to heaven, as the work here's done.
