All That Matters

by Donna Hendrix

God blessed me with a beautiful drive to work this morn
With a beautiful snowfall to adorn
Trees dressed in snowy white drapes of white
The world seemed peaceful and all was right
The landscape was a beautiful sight to behold
Another of God's wonders in His perfect mold
Topping the hill was a cemetery clothed in a shawl of snow
Glistening rows of markers of people I will never know
You could see angel wings covered with snowy dew
Monuments to loved ones that bid adieu
A snow covered tent marked a new grave site
And I wondered about the departed one's plight
Sprays of beautiful flowers embellished the ground
While rows of wreathes huddled around
Who was this person that left the earth?
What in his heart held great worth?
Did he live a legacy of love behind?
Lots of friends and relatives; ties that bind
Did he live his life for God each day?
Walk hand in hand in the Savior's way
I pray he found the light and stepped out of the dark
That for God on this world he left his mark
For all that matters as from this world you depart
Is that you allowed God into your heart
A blanket of white covered the grave
A reminder to all of what the Savior gave
The pure white snow covered all the imperfections of the land
Just as the Savior's pure love covered the scarlet sins of man!
