A good reason to boast

Christians can be content, even when all is not bliss…
When life brings us down, we can rest assured of this:
When we are weak, then are we actually strong;
Because to the Lord Jesus Christ we forever belong.

Our infirmities, once our shame, are now reason to glory;
We are heirs of God, children dearly beloved and holy.
The grace we have in Christ is sufficient for us -
His strength is made perfect in our human weaknesses.

We can delight in trials and hardships for Jesus' sake;
And when insulted or persecuted, herein comfort take:
In moments like these the power of Christ rests upon us;
Our ability to overcome is not of ourselves, it's all of Jesus.

We all have 'thorns in the flesh', of some kind or another;
Yet there is a silver lining, my Christian sister or brother:
It's in our weaknesses we experience God's power the most -
About our infirmities, let us therefore most gladly boast!
