Feelings of Chagrin

by Kristine Stanton © 2023

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
(Matthew 11:28–30, NIV)

Many times we find ourselves
absorbed and in a mood.
We might not know what brought us there—
this cause for us to brood.

We close the space surrounding us,
with feelings of chagrin.
Seclusion is a friendly face—
we don't let others in.

And when our burdens weigh us down
God knows we need relief.
He knows the weight that brings us down
and causes us deep grief.

It's when we call out for His help
the Lord comes to our aid.
He knows the weight that we can bear—
O' do not be afraid.

He'll take from us our heavy load—
and trade His yoke for ours.
For He is strong when we are weak—
God has great strength and pow 'r.
