Exhausting Ways

by Dave Mudford © 2024

drained and lifeless distractions
exhausting hope within,
exposing doubts and shadows
that corrupt and make faith thin.

my stress and worry drowning
exhausting the light of joy,
stumbling lost in darkness
connection and love destroy.

religion based on effort
exhausting fear consuming,
emptiness crowding heartache
depression now is blooming…

struggling safely in His refuge
exhaust all of His provisions,
relying on the strength God brings
influencing all decisions.

pouring out my heart to God
exhausting self in prayer,
exposing doubts to comfort
surrendering to His care.

Psalm 62:7-8 NIV My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
