A Storm

by Kristine Stanton

A storm came upon us
in the dark of the night.
Lightning flashed quite boldly
and gave us quite a fright.

Thunder clashed so loudly
and hands drew to our ears.
The storm raged on for hours
causing great amounts of fear.

Winds grew strong and might—
debris flew through the air.
We huddled close together—
the storm gave us a scare.

And while the storm around us
raged on across the land
we asked our mighty Savior
to lend a helping hand.

Christ Jesus heard us pleading
and only spoke one word—
the lightning, wind, and thunder
were then not seen or heard.
