He Spoke Not a Word

by Kristine Stanton © 2014

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth."
(Isaiah 53:7, KJV)

Oppressed and afflicted, Christ spoke not a word.
He was beaten and bruised, yet no sound was heard.

Like a lamb He was led to the slaughter that day,
as sheep before shearers He'd nothing to say.

Precious and guiltless was the Lord Jesus Christ
who bore all the sins of the world at a price.
