To Be Christ's Follower

If you want to be Christ's follower,
Be ready to become unpopular.
If you want to leave the church of your roots,
Be prepared for the absolutes.
Get ready to be misunderstood,
Even when you are in the good.
Learn to persevere without interaction
With other believers to your satisfaction.
You know the Bible, and you will,
Applying it with love takes skill.
If you value your reputation,
Remember, Jesus had none,
And long before the battle had begun,
Jesus knew He had already won.
He said we would have struggles,
Yet a laboring ox he would never muzzle.
If it seems you cannot take this and more,
Maybe a Christ-like walk isn't for you in store.
