Hiding behind a holy pretense
secure at intimacy's expense,
love only on the surface
missing what is life's purpose.
We bicker and fight
never to delight,
two strangers trying to love
while giving closeness a shove.
Lonely hearts lost in pride
true beauty left untried,
time to leave our guards aside
grasping all that grace provides.
Learning to open up our hearts
accepting all that love imparts,
never frightened by it's hard side
knowing it's the reason Christ died.
Once we were all strangers too
but He has made all things new,
known and blessed; we are free to give
connected souls, healed to truly live.
